About the Artist
Ms. Jensen is an undergraduate student at CSULB. She is currently working on her undergraduate degree in Bachelor’s of Fine Arts, Metals and Jewelry and she have one more semester left until her graduation.
Due to the fact that she is a returning student, therefore, she is a lot elder than the other students in her class. She used to worked as a flight attendant for approximately 8 years before she decides to come back to college.
Ms. Jensen admitted that she loves to make and create things, she loves to learn all sorts of technique and try to combine the basic technique that she have learned into each and every single art pieces she is creating. Long in short, she loves to experiments on art techniques.
The time she used to create each of her art pieces for this exhibition is approximately 3 weeks.
There are a total of 4 art pieces that Ms. Jensen have created is placed in the CSULB School of Art, Gatov Gallery East. But Ms. Jensen’s favorite out of all is this colorful necklace.
The shape of the pendent of the jewelry is semi-circular. Which for me, it looks like a rose’s flower pedal.
The colors of the pendent of the jewelry are blue, purple, and green. ; The color of the plain necklace of the jewelry is silver.
The scale of the sculpture is small as it is a jewelry.
The texture of the sculpture is smooth.
Ms. Jensen’s grandfather used to fix televisions when she was young and the image of how her grandfather used building and putting every parts together and formed a working television got stuck in her head, thereby it inspired Ms. Jensen to start creating things of her very own. She love to use different techniques to create her art pieces. And each of her art pieces is an experiment for her, she is trying to add new thing, combining few different techniques and create an unique piece.
I am interested in jewelry just like any girls do, the exhibition was amazing, I got to see some kind of jewelry that I thought can only be seen on TV! Ms. Jenson’s work is amazing, especially the colorful necklace that she have created. I asked her on for price for it and she told me it is $325! Without doubt, creating jewelry is expansive, Ms. Jenson added that she spend almost all of her Christmas money, New year money into buying the tools and material to create her art piece.
I like the fact that Ms. Jensen ‘s way of creating stuff with combining different techniques. It made me realized that arts is just like sciences, it required a number of experiments or trials in order to acquire the best result possible!
